Where: London, UK
Hair Needs: Bleach London Swamp Spritz is my absolute must for hair. If it’s short and messy or long and fine, and needs some texture before it’s styled, it’s my go-to product for most looks. When it comes to male grooming, I’m a big fan of Bumble and bumble. semisumo for those vintage, greasy quiffs, and then also Wella Sebastian Matte Craft Clay for more modern, voluminous styles.
Make-up Musts: I always use my Crown brushes fluffy brush (it doesn’t have a name, but it’s a life saver) for applying eye shadow. I wish I had ten of them! That paired with any Spectrum brush, they’re all incredible and my favourite brand, alongside Morphe. For shadows I favour Kryolan Singles purely because of the insane pigment and low price point compared to other professional brands like MAC, etc.
Practice and Experiment: When it comes to beauty I think it’s important to always just be doing what will make you happy. Your tools are your own. If you want to use a lip brush to put eye shadow on, then do it, don’t let anyone try to tell you what you can and can’t do. The same as if you’re just starting out, don’t feel like you have to have a pro kit. Buy drugstore makeup, use eBay brush sets, practice smoky eyes on your mom. No one will judge you, and if they do then they’ve forgotten that they were exactly the same when they started out. As long as you’re having fun, it doesn’t matter.
Don’t let anyone try to tell you what you can and can’t do.
Be You: I’ve always managed to surround myself with people who are more interested in the unusual and unique side of beauty, than in the ‘prom-y’ cut-crease and eyeliner. Both are fine, but I’m more than happy being a little weird. Working at Bleach London I’m in a very grungy, ‘anti-hairdresser-y’ environment. That’s just me, and what I like. I would never judge anyone on his or her role in the beauty industry because really, it all just comes down to what you like and prefer.
Overall, I just want everyone to appreciate the industry, work hard, and have a good time!
